Sitcom Moms & Dads: Frank's Mom

This week's episode of 30 Rock saw the return of actress Patti LuPone as Frank's very Italian mother Sylvia Rossitano.  But who is Patti LuPone?  Why is she famous?  Looks like it's time for another edition of our recurring segment "Sitcom Moms & Dads"!

Patti LuPone is a 6 time Tony Award nominated and 2 time Tony Award winning actress who has starred in over 20 Broadway shows.  Most famously, she starred in the original Broadway production of Evita, which earned LuPone her first Tony Award in 1980.  In 1988, she famously starred in the revival of Cole Porter's Anything Goes (currently on Broadway starring Sutton Foster). She later earned her second Tony Award for starring in the revival of the classic musical Gypsy in 2008.  She has also starred in her own one woman show Patti LuPone on Broadway in 1995, and most recently shared the stage with Mandy Patinkin in An Evening with Patti Lupone and Mandy Patinkin, which ran from November 2011 to January 2012.
