Cosby Show Reunion on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon!

Bill Cosby and Tempestt Bledsoe on The Cosby Show in 1984 (left) and on Late Night  in 2013 (right)

Last Friday night's episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was a truly special show.  Whenever Bill Cosby is the guest, you know something hilarious will happen, but combine that with the fact that he was reunited with his old Cosby Show co-star Tempestt Bledsoe (who played his 2nd youngest child Vanessa Huxtable), and you get an unforgettable moment in television history.  Tempestt is currently starring on the NBC comedy Guys with Kids, on which Jimmy Fallon is a producer, so it was great to see her reunite with her former TV father.

After the monologue and "Thank You Notes segment, Bill came out on his own to talk to Jimmy solo. But after a few seconds at the desk, Cosby got up to address The Roots, and what happened next was both incredibly bizarre and hilarious:

As a side note, The Roots are known for their clever choice of walk-on music for each guest. For Cosby, the performed "Dad is great, give us chocolate cake". The song comes from one of my favorite Cosby stand-up routines called "Chocolate Cake for Breakfast", which you can watch here:

Back to Late Nigh with Jimmy Fallon, after that first segment with The Roots, Cosby returned to the desk for a more typical interview to tell an entertaining story about meeting Santa Claus (though he seemed to lose his way towards the end as he started joking more about how uncomfortable his chair was):

Then, finally, the moment we'd all been waiting for, Tempestt Bledsoe came out, greeted Jimmy, and gave Cosby a big hug. She then shared some stories about her time working with Bill on The Cosby Show.  Cosby naturally interjected from time to time with some hilarious comments:

Unfortunately, the best part of the episode was cut out of the clip above (most likely due to music licensing issues), but if you're reading this shortly after the episode aired (on 1/4/13), you should be able to watch it below.  The interview ended with Tempestt and Bill doing a re-enactment of sorts of their famous lip-syncing performance from the classic Anniversary Party episode of The Cosby Show.  It was the perfect ending to a great Cosby Show reunion!

And in case you're not familiar with that classic lip-syncing scene, you can watch it right here:

Also, here is the clip that they were talking about from the pilot episode of The Cosby Show where Tempestt improvised the line "Who it is!":

It was great seeing Tempestt and Bill together again on TV as they clearly still have great chemistry together.  Hopefully Cosby can make a guest appearance on Guys with Kids so we can see them reunite again!
